Sound is a way of touching at a distance.

John Luther Adams

Artist Statement

The strings of the electric guitar responds to touch, while the internal electronics convert the sound waves into an electrical signal that is subsequently recorded.

When the music reaches the listener’s ear, there are no guitar electronics, no produced recordings, no digital files, and no transmitted signals. This illustrates the intimate connection between the musician and the listener.

The production of this poster is inspired by Bradbury Thompson’s CMYK artwork, as featured in “The Great Ideas of Modern Man.”
