You have to act as if it were possible to radically transform the world. And you have to do it all the time.

Artist Statement

Reckoning with the barriers society places in our lives creating obstacles towards happiness, and specifically those that plague my existence as an Afro Latina and Caribbean woman living in America, my work aims to amplify motifs of peace and joy and serve as a portal for the viewers to imagine and experience those feelings. Influenced by my rich Caribbean culture and influences as a Miami native, my art displays an affinity towards color, tropical foliage, pattern and movement. The subject matter features themes like sisterhood, community, self confidence, rest, giving viewers permission to imagine those same realities for themselves. The unique process of applying texture helps bring the work to life and emphasize the feeling of tangibility.
