Artist Statement

As a research-based designer, Tré Seals explores the historical, cultural, and political forces that shape the way we see and are seen. Through his type foundry, Vocal Type, his studio practice, and self-initiated projects, Seals brings the same careful attention to context, process, and meaning—using typography as a tool for representation and remembrance. His work is grounded in legacy, shaped by equity, and driven by the belief that design helps us tell stories that last.
