Octavio Paz (1914–1998) Mexican poet and diplomat.
Influenced by the Modernist and Surrealist movements in the US and Spain, Paz’s work centers Mexican culture around themes of philosophy, art, religion, politics, and the individual. He also served as Mexico’s ambassador to India, and won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1990.
