Barbara Gaines (1946– ) American theatre director, impresario, and actress.
Gains is the founder and Artistic Director of the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. She is a tireless champion for Shakespeare, having directed nearly 30 of his plays, and for theater in Chicago. Started in a pub in 1986, Chicago Shakespeare Theater now occupies a permanent space at Navy Pier and presents more than 600 annual performances.
